A way to work with the time you have even when you’re busy
If you’re reading this, you may already know first-hand how the magic of Focusmate takes 50 minutes of your day and turns it into real, visible progress on your goals.
But let’s face it—you don’t always have a full hour, you may only have a few things to do, or you may just simply not have the energy for that commitment.
As of today, we’ve made it easier to stay on track with your goals with 25-minute sessions. ????
These shorter sessions can help you knock out quicker tasks like:
- Staying focused between meetings or class
- Morning & evening routines
- Meditation or journaling
- Daily or weekly planning
Why 25 minutes?
These sessions are designed to be compatible with the Pomodoro Technique in which you commit to focusing on work for 25 minutes at a time with 5-minute breaks in between. This simple time management system helps you stay focused while giving you the rest you need, and our 25-minute sessions are perfect for stringing multiple Pomodoro sessions together.
How to book a 25-minute session
Booking a 25-minute session is just as easy as booking a 50-minute session. Here’s how to do it:
- On the calendar: From your dashboard, select the “25m” toggle above the calendar, click the starting time you prefer within the calendar, and then confirm your session by clicking “Continue to book 1 session.”
Tip: You can book more than one session at once! Simply click on multiple time slots in the calendar and then confirm them all in a single click.
2. From the sidebar: On the left side of your dashboard, click the ‘Book a Session’ button to get started with specifying your session details.
Note: Just as with 50-minute sessions, you can also book 25-minute sessions starting every 15 minutes on the :00, :15, :30 and :45.

Have you ever used the Pomodoro Technique? We’d love to hear about how it works for you and how you plan to use 25-minute sessions. Let us know at support@focusmate.com!
Just using the sessions for the first time now. So far so good. Feel somewhat more motivated with the 25 minute sesh. Less time to fluff around and so seem to get right into it. I feel like I can set tasks more accurately for a 25 min Pomo sesh. Great idea. Thanks FM!
Great feedback thanks for sharing Bobby! 25 minutes does feel like a great addition and like Parkinson’s Law says “…work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion” so it sounds like you are on to something there! ????
I dig this! —Nice improvement, y’all. Thanks!
Thanks Beau, glad you dig it!
THANK YOU FOR THIS FLEXIBILITY! You always add features with us in mind! Not sure if it’s just me but there are times when I finish my task early but because I’m on a 50-minute session in Focusmate, I have to pretend to be productive on the remainder of the session. My Focusmate partner doesn’t even know. HAHAHA
It’s definitely not just you Andrew! So happy you’ll be able to book some 25-minute sessions now to match up with the time it takes to get some of your tasks done. Also, quick tip if you find yourself on a session with a task already complete and too much time left — plan a stretch goal! Then if you surprise yourself and get task #1 done early, you’ll be able go after the stretch goal you already have setup. Or just enjoy that extra time pretending and relish in that moment that you finished something with time to spare. Nothing wrong with that 🙂
Thanks. Just booked my first session!
Amazing Fiona — great work on taking immediate action!
This is a cool feature thanks, guys.
What about 90min sessions next?
Thanks, Bren ???? Enjoy! And just know that longer sessions are definitely on the radar for the future, so stay tuned!
Love it! I’m going to explore doing 1 of these 25 min sessions every morning, to plan my day. Congrats on the launch, Focusmate team 🙂
That sounds like a great idea Carrie! Let us know how it goes… we’re so happy to launch 25-minute sessions and see how people are putting it into action! ????
Yes the 25 minute session option is an awesome innovation !
I am more likely to go off track on a 50 minute session than 25 !
We got you Pete! 25 minute is often that sweet spot, especially for those of us with ADHD, get that quick break and then jump into another 25 and repeat 🙂
Then when you are in the flow, you can always switch it up and drop into a 50-minute and keep it going.
AWESOME! Thank you!!!!
You got it Sophie!
yay. finally!! thank you Focusmate team
Finally indeed! You are very welcome and thanks for sticking with us and being patient ????
This is good because often don’t have the 50 minutes available. Still hoping my backlog request for an instant match rather than waiting for up to 15 minutes gets implemented soon.
Now I have to update my profile, because I had 25 minute sessions listed as my most-wanted FM feature. Thanks for always working to improve an already amazing thing!
Sounds like a good problem to have Anitra! Happy to ship something that was on your wishlist 🙂
Looking forward to seeing what your next request is!
25 minute sessions have pulled me back after not using FM for a bit. Kudos!!
That’s so great to hear Craig! Welcome back ????
I’m so happy to have the 25 min option now! Since I joined focusmate I’ve been hoping you would introduce this feature 🙂 loving it!
We are so happy you’ve been patient and stuck with us! Glad you are loving it 🙂
This is AWESOME! I love all continuous improvements and this site! 😀 THANK YOUUUUU!
How many 25 min sessions can I book in a week combined with 50 min sessions? (free version).
Groetjes,
Martine
I like this idea! Do the new 25-minute session count toward maintaining the weekly streak that FocusMate tracks in your weekly email report?
Congratulations!:)
Though now I can’t see anything on my dashboard:( It’s as if it’s all empty….
Is it a bug in my profile, or on purpose?
(I could book a session,
but I loved it so much that I could see who’s working when!!!! And not only “blind dates”;) )
Thanks a bunch, this app is epic!! 🙂
Will a 25m session count as 1 whole session from the 3 free sessions?
